European markets close higher after data

European equities closed with gains on Thursday as investors continue to sift through earnings and economic data. According to Eurostat, inflation in the Eurozone fell slightly in October to 1.4%, while the UK’s Office for National Statistics reported retail sales in the country increased at a pace of 0.3% last month.

During today's session, construction and materials was the best performing sector. The DAX closed 0.55% higher as shares of Infineon Technologies gained 3.46%, followed by HeidelbergCement rising 3.37%. The CAC 40 ended 0.66% up, led by Bouygues surging 5.06% after it reported higher sales and profits for the first nine months of the year. The FTSE 100 advanced 0.19% at the end of the session. One of the UK's largest property development companies, British Land jumped 3.69% boosted by its strong performance in the first half of the year. The euro was down 0.14% against the dollar at 5:52 pm CET, buying $1.17756, while the pound was 0.23% higher versus the greenback at 5:53 pm CET, going for $1.32013.
