UBS values Apple-Qualcomm settlement at $6B

Swiss banking giant UBS Group's analysts estimated that Apple Inc. paid Qualcomm Inc. between $5 billion and $6 billion to settle their long-standing royalties dispute, the CNBC reported on Thursday. Besides this, the deal also probably also includes between $8 and $9 in patent fees per iPhone, UBS assessed.

Qualcomm's chief executive officer Steve Mollenkopf yesterday refused to disclose the details of the said settlement, adding that it won't discuss its terms in the future. Two days ago, tech giants issued a joint statement, saying they will halt all ongoing litigations.

The stock price of semiconductor giant Qualcomm surged after these reports, jumping more than 36% in the past two days. The stock traded 0.97% higher on Thursday at 11:18 am ET.
