A minority part of ThyssenKrupp AG's elevator unit will be listed on the stock exchange, the company's CEO Guido Kerkhoff said on Wednesday.

Speaking at the Heinrich Heine University in Duesseldorf, the executive said he had no news on the potential sale of the unit which is valued at around $15.9 billion.

ThyssenKrupp is facing challenges ever since the European Commission stopped it from merging with Tata Steel. The company is said to be looking into a merger with Kloeco to strengthen its materials division while Finnish Kone is said to be interested in purchasing ThyssenKrupp's elevator division.
