Libyan field of 290,000 barrels per day goes offline

National Oil Co. acknowledged on Saturday that production at Libya's largest facility has ground to a halt. El-Sharara, which currently has the capacity of 290,000 barrels of crude per day, went offline and NOC said it is looking into indications that a valve or several valves are closed in the pipeline system in Hamada area in the country's west. The first reports of the incident emerged yesterday.

Production at El-Feel, which can reach 100,000 barrels per day, wasn't affected by the shutdown, the oil monopoly added. The facility suffered an outage in December as the conflict between rival governments and their forces blocked production.
