Europe opens mixed ahead of ECB rate decision

Major European stock markets traded early on Wednesday with investors being on the lookout for news concerning the continuation of trade talks between Washington and Beijing and amid earnings season. Data on Germany's and eurozone's composite PMI will be published later during the session, while the European Central Bank is expected to present its decision on a potential interest rate cut tomorrow.

The FTSE 100 was down 0.19% at 9:16 am CET, while the DAX advanced 0.06% above the flat line at the same time. Covestro AG and Infineon Technologies were its best performers, gaining 2.44% and 1.24%, respectively, shortly after the opening bell. The CAC 40 also rose at the session's start, led by TechnipFMC plc 3.18% at 9:05 am CET.

The euro was flat to negative compared to the dollar, selling for 1.1147 at 9:20 am CET.
