Eurozone inflation down to 1% in July

The annual inflation rate in the euro area decreased to 1% in July, compared to June when it stood at 1.3%, the statistical office of the European Union, Eurostat, said on Monday. The figure was down from July 2018 when it stood at 2.2%. The European Union inflation rate in July stood at 1.4%, the release said, down from 2.2% a year ago.

The biggest contributions to Eurozone inflation came from services, food and alcohol and tobacco.

Annual inflation in July was highest in Romania where is stood at 4.1%. The lowest rate was recorded in Portugal (-0.7%). Inflation was lower in July compared to June in 15 EU member states while it increased in 11 and remained stable in two.
