EIA: US oil inventories down by 2.7M barrels

Crude oil inventories in the United States -creased by 2.7 million barrels to 437.8 million barrels in the week ending August 16, the US Energy Information Administration (EIA) reported on Wednesday.

US crude oil refinery inputs averaged of 17.7 million barrels per day, up by 401,000 barrels per day from the previous week. Refineries operated at 95.9% of their capacity, while gasoline production declined from the week before, averaging 9.9 million barrels per day.

Imports of crude oil in the US averaged 7.2 million barrels per day, falling by about 497,000 barrels per day from the previous week. Total commercial petroleum inventories rose by 4 million barrels.
