Amazon changed algorithms to favor own products - report

Monday, 16. September 2019 17:13 Inc. changed its search algorithms to favor its own products, the Wall Street Journal reported on Monday.

Reportedly, the e-commerce giant optimized the algorithm that ranks listings in order for it to show less most-relevant and best-selling listings and more products that are profitable for the company. The change hasn't been publicized, people close to the matter told the newspaper.

The adjustment comes as regulators from the United States and the European Union investigate Amazon's alleged anti-competitive conduct, as well as its dual role as a marketplace operator and a seller.
