Europe closes mostly higher after EU backs Brexit delay |

European equities finished trading mostly higher on Friday after the European Union agreed to delay Brexit once again. However, a decision on the length of the extension won't come until next week. Meanwhile, MPs in Westminster will consider the government's motion to hold a general election on December 12 next week. The DAX advanced 0.17% as Infineon and Continental led the gains. The CAC 40 gained 0.67% with luxury goods company Kering surging over 8%. In London, the FTSE 100 closed flat. The euro fell 0.16% against the dollar at 5:40 pm CET, buying 1.10865, while the pound declined 0.09% versus the greenback to go for 1.28395. |
