Europe closes with losses after Trump's comments

European markets closed the session mixed on Friday after the United States President Donald Trump said that he has not agreed to remove tariffs on Chinese goods. Meanwhile, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo stressed that Washington wants more trade with the European Union.

Germany's Finance Minister Olaf Scholz asserted the largest economy in Europe is "not near the recession."

The DAX closed with losses of 0.49% driven by Wirecard's decrease of over 3%. The CAC 40 traded in the red as well, slipping 0.23% at the closing bell with Credit Agricole's stocks falling more than 2%. At the same time, the FTSE 100 lost 0.62% as the session ends with Ocado Group declined over 6%.

The euro traded lower against the dollar, slipping 0.24% at 5:30 CET to go for 1.10202.
