Finnish telecommunication company Nokia Corporation announced on Tuesday that it named Sari Baldauf as the new board chairman. Baldauf, who previously chaired Nokia's network unit, will now succeed Risto Siilasmaa at the next annual shareholders meeting.

Previously famous for its mobile phones, Nokia is planning to launch a 5G midrange device in 2020, featuring the Snapdragon 7xx platform that will support 5G. The device is described as an "affordable 5G phone," which could cost half the price of current 5G phones or approximately €500.

From December 3 to 5, Qualcomm is hosting a Tech Summit in Hawaii, and Nokia Mobile’s CPO Juho Sarvikas is expected to join Qualcomm’s president Cristiano Amon in discussing the 5G plans for Nokia phones and to reveal its new product.
