United Airlines Inc. published a press release in which it revealed an order of 50 new Airbus A321XLR airplanes, aimed to replace Boeing Co.'s 757-200 aircraft in the airline's fleet.

Executive Vice President and CCO of United, Andrew Nocella, said that "the new Airbus A321XLR aircraft is an ideal one-for-one replacement for the older, less-efficient aircraft currently operating between some of the most vital cities in our intercontinental network."

The airline plans to start utilizing the new aircraft in 2024 for international flights from New York and Washington to several European cities.
