Lufthansa suspends flying over Iran, Iraq

Lufthansa suspended flying over Iran and Iraq on Wednesday, the company confirmed after Iran struck United States troops in Iraq earlier in the day in retaliation for the killing of its top military official Qassem Soleimani.

Lufthansa added that it cancelled its flight LH600/601 from Frankfurt to Tehran and will evaluate the situation further. Earlier, Air France Kuwait Airlines and Singapore Airlines' Scoot rerouted their planes so they would not enter Iraq or Iran.

As tensions in the Middle East affected investor sentiment, Lufthansa was one of the worst performers on the German DAX, declining 1.72% at 10:30 am CET.
