BMW sales rise 1.2% in 2019 to 2.5M vehicles

Sales of the BMW Group rose by 1.2% to 2.5 million in 2019, a press release showed on Friday. The figure includes global sales of BMW, Mini and Rolls Royce vehicles and compared to 2.2 million vehicles sold in 2018.

Board member Pieter Nota stated: "Thanks to our major model offensive, we were once again able to increase our sales in 2019 and achieve another new all-time high." Nota added that it is targeting continued growth in 2020.

The company noted that its sales of luxury vehicles doubled from 2018 to 2020 and 2019 was described as the best year ever for BMW M GmbH with sales in the subsidiary jumping 32.2%. Additionally, BMW said interest in Mini Electric increased with 90,000 potential customers registering to buy the vehicle despite an overall fall in Mini brand deliveries year-on-year of 4.1%. Rolls Royce Motor car sales jumped by 25.4% to 5,152 units in 2019 compared to the previous year.
