US markets close in green as Nasdaq hits record high

Markets on Wall Street closed in the green on Tuesday as the Nasdaq 100 reached a new record high, with Tesla's shares jumping over 10%. American jeweler Tiffany & Co. approved the $16.2 billion acquisition bid from French luxury goods company LVMH, while Intercontinental Exchange made a $30 billion takeover offer for e-commerce corporation eBay.

The Dow Jones rose 1.44% at the close, with Apple leading the gains as its stocks were 3.30% higher. The Nasdaq 100 increased by 2.28% to end with a new record high, as Tesla's shares jumped 13.73%. The S&P 500 gained 1.50% at the closing bell. Albemarle Corp. led the table with a 11.93% leap in shares' value.

The euro was flat compared to the dollar, changing hands for 1.10448 at 4:01 pm ET.
