Commerzbank's revenue up 0.5% to €2.16B in Q4

Commerzbank AG said on Thursday that its revenue in the fourth quarter of 2019 amounted to €2.16 billion, rising 0.5% compared to the same period a year earlier. The German lender's operating profit in the last three months of 2019 climbed 4.5% year on year to €250 million, while, net loss stood at €54 million, or €0.04 per share.

In full fiscal 2019, the bank's revenue was down 0.3% to €8.62 billion and earnings per share (EPS) dropped 26% to €0.51. Operating profit was up 1.2% to €1.26 billion.

"We ended the financial year 2019 with a better operating profit than expected. We have already made tangible progress with our strategy. So I’m more optimistic about our return expectations than I was last autumn," CEO Martin Zielke stated.
