Thyssenkrupp keeps Merz as permanent CEO

Thyssenkrupp AG announced in a statement on Friday that interim Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Martina Merz (pictured) will be promoted to a permanent CEO role and signed to "a three-year term effective April 1, 2020."

Merz will step down from the Supervisory Board, the company also revealed, adding that Dr. Klaus Keysberg will replace outgoing Chief Financial Officer Johannes Dietsch beginning with March 31, 2020.

"This is the best conceivable solution for the company. Martina Merz has proven that her approach is the right one and that her consistency is effective," the Chairman of the Supervisory Board Prof. Dr. Siegfried Russwurm said in the press release. Merz commented: "We started the transformation process at Thyssenkrupp together. And together with the employees, the management team, my colleagues and the Supervisory Board I would like to continue along this path."
