Europe opens lower with data in focus

Shares on European stock markets started the session lower as investors focus on the latest data reports for the United Kingdom.

Producer prices in the UK were at a negative 0.7% in the twelve months to April, marking a drop from the previous month when it was in the positive territory. Meanwhile, the country's consumer inflation declined to 0.8% in April, the lowest since August 2016.

The DAX lost 0.55% at 9:20 am CET to start the session with losses as MTU Aero Engines declined nearly 4%. Meanwhile, the FTSE 100 lost 0.31% with Carnival PLC losing over 3% and the CAC 40 sank 0.97% at the same time as ArcelorMittal plunged more than 3%.

The euro traded 0.29% lower to go for $1.09537 at 9:25 am CET.
