Europe closes higher as EU starts trade policy review

Major stock markets in Europe closed higher on Tuesday as the European Commission began its major trade policy review with the aim of accelerating the recovery of the global economy, affected severely by the coronavirus pandemic. In the meantime, recent Oxford University research revealed that the use of dexamethasone lessens the death risk from COVID-19 in patients on ventilators by a third and in patients on oxygen by one fifth.

The DAX went up by 3.15% at the closing bell with Heidelbergcement AG surging 6.92%. The FTSE 100 grew by 2.96% as Carnival PLC grew 7.58%. The CAC 40 rose by 2.84% with Arcelomittal SA increasing by 6.96%.

The euro decreased by 0.57% against the dollar to sell for $1.12583 at 5:32 pm CET.
