Apple switches Intel chips in Macs to its own - CEO

Apple's Chief Executive Tim Cook announced on Monday that Apple will stop using Intel chips in all of its Macs from 2021 and transfer to custom-made Apple processors in the meantime.

"This is a historical day for Apple," Cook said speaking at Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference. adding that this change was planned "many years ago."

According to Cook, Apple will be building its own custom silicon for the Mac, which will enable the company to speed up performance on its laptops and desktops.
