DAX surges 2% after Wirecard's ex-CEO arrest

Germany's DAX surged over 270 points on Tuesday as Wirecard led the gains in the index following the arrest of its former CEO Markus Braun over $2.1 billion missing from the company's accounts.

Wirecard jumped 16.83% at 10:43 am CET to go for €16.7 per share, but remained over 83% down for the week. Other top performers included giants from the auto industry as Volkswagen gained 4.54% at 10:45 am CET and BMW increased 3.59% at the same time.

The DAX was up 1.99% at 10:52 am CET. The index is now up 12.9% over the past month.
