Asia trades higher on COVID-19 vaccine hopes

Major stock market indexes in Asia traded higher on Monday after the director of the Russian Institute for Translational Medicine and Biotechnology revealed the Gamalei Institute's coronavirus vaccine proved to be "successful" and "safe" in trial.

In mainland China, the Shenzhen Composite went up by 1.9% at 4:27 am CET, while at the same time, the Shanghai Composite, added 0.66%. At 4:28 am CET, Hong Kong's Hang Seng traded 0.34% higher, as Japan's Nikkei 225 gained 1.75%. South Korea's Kospi increased by 1.21% at 4:29 am CET, with the Australian S&P/ASX 200 rising 0.9% a minute later.

The dollar, however, fell 0.08% against the yen, going for ¥106.8355 at 04:29 am CET.
