European markets soar on open amid vaccine news

Equities on the major European stock markets jumped at the opening bell on Monday amid the reassuring data regarding the COVID-19 vaccine and treatments. After optimistic findings on remdesivir, a COVID-19 drug by Gilead Sciences, a Russian Institute revealed trial results on a vaccine candidate which was reportedly proven successful and safe. Earlier today, French Finance Minister Bruno Le Maire stated the country's consumption activity decreased by only 5% during the coronavirus pandemic.

The DAX surged 1.45% at the opening bell, with Wirecard leading the gains. Concurrently, the FTSE 100 increased by 0.83% as IAG rose by 3.45%. At the same time in Paris, the CAC 40 gained 1.01%, with ArcelorMittal adding 2.75%.

The euro went up by 0.29% versus the dollar, buying $1.13290 at 9:04 am CET, while the pound inclined 0.24% against the greenback, changing hands at $1.26488 a minute later.
