The German government asked Russia to provide information on the whereabouts of Wirecard's former Chief Operating Officer Jan Marsalek, The Wall Street Journal wrote, citing the written request disclosed to the German lawmakers.

Russian officials were also asked if Marsalek entered the country, and urged to act on the Interpol notice issued for his arrest, the report read.

After the company scandal over the alleged market manipulation and money laundering, Marsalek has reportedly found refuge in either Russia or Belarus, unlike the Wirecard's former CEO Markus Braun who was arrested amid the investigation.
