Europe opens higher with earnings in focus

Trading on major European stock markets kicked off higher on Tuesday as investors continued to monitor the impact of the coronavirus pandemic on corporate earnings. Bayer, BP, and easyJet were among the companies to report their results today.

Stocks surged into the close of Monday's session boosted by positive manufacturing data for the euro area. The economic report revealed manufacturing activity across the eurozone expanded for the first time since February of 2019.

The DAX was up 0.88% in the first minute of trading, led higher by Infineon, which posted its quarterly results earlier. The CAC 40 gained 0.68% as Peugeot led the gains. The FTSE 100 was 0.15% lower at the start of the session in London, before crossing over into the green. The euro advanced 0.14% against the dollar at 9:15 am CET, buying 1.17788. At the same time, the pound was 0.16% higher compared to the greenback, going for 1.30930.
