China's inflation up to 2.7% in July

China's consumer price index (CPI) surprised expectations in July, marking an annual growth of 2.7%, according to a report by the country's National Bureau of Statistics released on Monday.

The figure went up by 0.2 percentage points from June's annual inflation rate of 2.5%. Consumer prices on a monthly basis landed at 0.6% in July in contrast with the previous month's figure which stood at negative 0.1%.

In the meantime, the country’s producer price index (PPI) went 2.4% down year-on-year, still above the estimated number.
