Israeli start-up Tactile Mobility announced on Tuesday it reached an agreement with BMW to equip the German company's smart and autonomous vehicles with its tactile sensing technology starting in 2021.

"We are thrilled to partner with the BMW Group to equip their smart and future automated vehicles with the sense of 'touch' and show the commercial viability of tactile sensing technology," Tactile Mobility's co-founder Boaz Mizrahi said.

The Israeli company noted the commercial partnership will ensure BMW vehicles have software which can analyze the road surface attributes under their tires, thus detecting road conditions and enhancing performance.
