Volkswagen's subsidiary Audi AG expects its sales for fiscal 2020 to decline compared to the year prior, despite the strong results that the company reported in China, the automaker's chief executive officer Markus Duesmann (pictured) said on Sunday.

In an interview with Automobilwoche, he added that the firm saw encouraging numbers in the third quarter of the year, but added that the strong results can't nullify the losses recorded in April and May.

Duesmann has previously predicted that the company's sales numbers will get back to where they were before the pandemic in 2022 or 2023.
