US opens higher on earnings, stimulus news

Major stock indexes in the United States started Thursday's trading session higher as investors focused on the slew of corporate earnings released today and last night. Tesla Inc. reported revenue growth at 42% per annum, while AT&T Inc., Dow Inc., Coca-Cola Co., American Airlines Inc., and Southwest Airlines Inc. all reported a drop in revenues. Meanwhile, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi stated that the lower chamber of Congress may pass the coronavirus relief bill before the November elections.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average was flat at the opening bell as Dow Inc. rose 2.69%. The Nasdaq 100 jumped 0.46% and the S&P 500 advanced 0.12%. concurrently. Align Technology was the best performer on both indexes, surging 31.22%.

The euro fell 0.22% against the dollar at 9:29 am ET to sell for 1.18342.
