Europe higher premarket amid vaccine news

Shares on major European stock markets gained during premarket trading on Tuesday as progress in the development of coronavirus vaccines continued to boost investor sentiment.

Aside from the two mRNA vaccines from Pfizer and Moderna, both of which boast efficacy of 95%, AstraZeneca and the University of Oxford shared details this week on their own vaccine. Although this COVID-19 vaccine has an average efficacy of 70%, it has some other advantages compared to Pfizer's and Moderna's, including easier storage and price.

The DAX rose 0.93% at 7:45 am CET, while the CAC 40 was up 0.87%. In London, the FTSE 100 advanced 0.66%. The euro was up 0.13% against the dollar at 7:50 am CET, buying 1.18532. At the same time, the pound rose 0.13% compared to the dollar to 1.33364.
