Europe closes higher amid recovery hopes

Major stock market indexes in Europe closed the session in the green on Wednesday with the investors' optimism regarding the economic recovery helping the shares wrap up the trading bout on a stronger note than two previous days.

The traders digested varying predictions in regard to the COVID containment measures. While the Swiss government unveiled that it plans to ease the lockdown starting March, Italian and Hungarian officials asserted that any relaxation of measures in the near future would be the wrong course of action.

The DAX jumped 0.80% as the session ended, with MTU Aero Engines soaring 5.96%. The CAC 40 increased 0.31% at the same time as Airbus surged 3.77%. In London, the FTSE 100 concurrently gained 0.50%, with BP plc advancing 5.43%. The euro slid 0.10% versus the dollar, selling for 1.21350 at 5:33 pm CET, while the pound lost 0.16% versus the greenback to go for 1.40914 at the same time.
