United States House of Representatives canceled its session scheduled for Thursday after intelligence officials revealed that an unnamed militant group may have plans to attempt to breach the Capitol.

"As of late February, an unidentified group of militia violent extremists discussed plans to take control of the U.S. Capitol and remove Democratic lawmakers on or about 4 March and discussed aspirational plans to persuade thousands to travel to Washington, DC, to participate," the Department of Homeland Security and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) said in a joint intelligence bulletin on Wednesday, according to CBS News.

The United States Capitol Police (USCP) gave a similar statement earlier in the day.
