Nestle to cut 380 jobs, close Ludwigsburg plant

Monday, 17. December 2018 10:23

Swiss food giant Nestle announced on Monday that it will cut 380 jobs and close its Caro drinks plant in Ludwigsburg, following its announcement earlier this year that it would do so. It will also close a food laboratory in Weiding, Bavaria, by the end of the year and reorganize its plants in Lüdinghausen in North Rhine-Westphalia and Biessenhofen in Bavaria in 2019.

The closures come as Nestle seeks to cut costs at its German plants in the face of competitive pressure. Caro, a coffee substitute beverage made from rye, barley, malt and chicory, will continue to be produced but at other locations. The food analysis that previously took place in Weiding will be moved to other German and foreign locations.
