Nestle 2018 net sales up 2.1%, to CHF 91.4B

Nestle SA announced on Thursday its net sales in the fiscal 2018 amounted to 91.4 billion Swiss franc. The company's annual earnings per share stood at 3.36 Swiss franc, 45.5% higher compared to the previous fiscal year. Nestle organic growth reached 3.0%, with an internal growth of 2.5% and 0.5% pricing growth, mostly driven by the strong performance in the United States and China.

The biggest growth was recorded in North America and Asia, driven by high sales of Putina petcare, and the e-commerce channel in North America. Coffee-mate creamers and Nestle Professional also displayed high growth in the region. China's growth was driven by the rise in innovations in infant nutrition, whereas South-East Asia saw an increase in Milo and Bear Brand products in 2018.

"We are pleased with our progress in 2018. All financial performance metrics improved significantly and we saw revived growth in our two largest markets, the United States and China, as well as in our infant nutrition business. Nestle keeps investing in future growth and- at the same time- has increased the amount of cash returned to shareholders through our dividend and share buyback program," chief executive officer Mark Schneider commented.
