Jerry Chun Shing Lee, a former Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) officer, was sentenced to 19 years in prison on Friday for conspiring with the Chinese government against the United States. Lee was revealing sensitive intel to Beijing, such as the names of covert CIA officers and the identity of the US informants in China, gaining money in return.

Even though there was no hard evidence of Lee being involved in the conspiracy, Federal District Court Judge T.S. Ellis stated that it is "more likely than not that at least some portion of the money came from the Chinese, so he must have given them something of value."

He served as a CIA officer for 13 years, including missions abroad that took him to China. Almost two years ago, Lee was arrested as the FBI found his notes that included information on CIA agents and its sources. After the sentence was announced, he became the third intelligence officer that was convicted for intel leaking to China this year.
