Stocks in Asia-Pacific higher ahead of Lunar New Year

Equities on major stock markets in East Asia and the Pacific region traded higher in the Friday afternoon trade, with investors focus remaining on the coronavirus outbreak. On trade, Japan and the United Kingdom were reportedly close to signing a deal, which could be finalized by the end of 2020.

Japan's Nikkei 225 rose 0.18% at 7:42 am CET. The dollar was little changed against the yen at 7:29 am CET, buying ¥109.5470.

Australia's S&P/ASX 200 added 0.25% at 7:48 am CET.

In Hong Kong, the Hang Seng closed early, standing 0.15% higher at 4:59 am. Markets in Mainland China and in South Korea were closed for the holidays.
