US markets start trading higher on optimistic data

Major stock indices in the United States turned to gains on Tuesday amid optimistic data on the manufacturing front. New orders for manufactured goods in the country increased by 6.2%, US Census Bureau reported. Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump announced lower drug prices, blasting the big pharmaceutical companies for their current pricing practices.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose by 0.07% at 10:29 am ET, while the Nasdaq 100 advanced 0.17%. At the same time, the S&P 500 stood flat.

The euro dipped 0.18% versus the dollar, selling for $1.7417 at 10:35 am ET.
