Europe opens in green after German GDP data

Major European stock markets opened in the green on Tuesday, following sentiment from premarket trading. Before the opening bell, data showed that Germany's gross domestic product (GDP) in the second quarter was down by 9.7%, a lower decrease than analysts expected.

The DAX opened 0.72% higher at 9:01 am CET with Bayer AG coming out as the top performer with its shares jumping by 2.62% at 9:12 am CET. The CAC 40 increased by 1.21% at 9:13 am CET as Unibail Rodamcom WE was up 3.10% at 9:13 am CET. The FTSE 100 climbed 0.97% at 9:15 am CET as International Consolidated Airlines Group topped the index with gains of 4.61% at 9:16 am CET.

The euro advanced by 0.17% against the greenback going for 1.18076 at 9:05 am CET, while the pound sterling increased 0.27% compared to the dollar and was selling for 1.30983 at 9:07 am CET.
