Intel sinks 6% as Microsoft plans to design own chips

Intel Corp. dropped more than 6% on Friday after media reported it could lose its most valuable partner Microsoft.

The US tech giant reportedly aims to begin designing and manufacturing its own chips for servers and surface PCs.

Intel surrendered 6.02% at 3:45 pm ET, trading for $47.6 per share to fall to its lowest levels since November 30.
