European stocks decline in premarket amid COVID worries

Major stock market indexes in Europe declined on Tuesday after the World Health Organization (WHO) warned it was "unrealistic" to expect the COVID-19 pandemic to end in 2021. Meanwhile, investors awaited data on housing prices in the United Kingdom as well as the latest figures on retail sales in Germany which are due before the bell.

The CAC 40 was down 0.24% at 7:01 am CET, the DAX lost 0.38% at 7:08 am CET and the FTSE 100 decreased by 0.36% at 7:08 am CET.

The euro fell 0.17% against the dollar to 1.20239 at 7:09 am CET and the pound was 0.25% in the red compared to the American currency, changing hands at 1.38869 at 7:10 am CET.
