NYSE: Alphabet, Amazon, Booking halted due to bug

Wednesday, 25. April 2018 19:14

A price scale code issue in execution reports within the binary common customer gateway (BCCG) software prompted a suspension in trading of Amazon Inc., both classes of Alphabet Inc.'s stocks, Booking Holdings Inc. and Zion Oil and Gas Inc., all in Tape C, the New York Stock Exchange said on Wednesday. The change was announced for the current trading session.

The affected securities are listed on the Nasdaq and the halt didn't affect platforms other than the NYSE's. After the recent introduction of securities from rival marketplaces, the halted stocks were launched on the floor today. Zion's warrants under symbol ZNWAA were suspended, while the common stock's ticker is ZN. All open orders are being canceled, the statement said.

"Execution reports priced at or above $1,000 in some Tapes B and C securities (including AMZN, BKNG, GOOG, GOOGL) are being published with a 'price scale' code of 5. NYSE expects this behavior to continue for trading today and will provide a further update before the start of trading tomorrow," the exchange said in the initial report about the glitch.
