Wall Street ends mixed, trade talks in focus

Major markets in the United States closed mixed on Friday as investors digested news on halted trade negotiations between Beijing and Washington. US President Donald Trump stated earlier the tariffs on Chinese imports may be removed if future negotiations are successful. Meanwhile, Uber Technologies began its New York Stock Exchange debut at $42 per share, ending the day 7.62% lower.

The Dow Jones increased 0.44% at the end of the session. Walmart, Procter & Gambel and Coca-Cola led the gains, rising 2.38%, 1.70% and 1.67%, respectively. The Nasdaq 100 was 0.05% in the green. Booking Holdings surged 5.40% after it released its earnings report yesterday. The S&P 500 increased 0.37% at the closing bell, snapping a four-day losing streak.

The euro gained 0.16% against the greenback to go for 1.1234 at 4:22 pm ET.
