Trump: US to look into Google after Thiel's claims

Tuesday, 16. July 2019 13:56

After billionaire Republican investor Peter Thiel (pictured) said China's intelligence services may have infiltrated Google Llc, United States President Donald Trump asserted on Tuesday that his administration would "take a look." Citing the accusations by the technology mogul from an interview with Fox News, he tweeted the member of Facebook's board is "a great and brilliant guy who knows this subject better than anyone!"

Trump noted Thiel's claim that Alphabet Inc.'s main subsidiary has "engaged in the seemingly treasonous decision." The cofounder of PayPal, Palantir Technologies and Founders Fund asserted the search giant is cooperating with China's military instead of the US military. Google denied his allegations.

The president has been critical of the largest technology companies for what he said was bias against conservative views and anticompetitive conduct.
