Booking's revenue up 9% YoY to $3.9B in Q2

Booking Holdings Inc. reported on Wednesday its total revenues in the second quarter of 2019 rose 9% to $3.9 billion. The company said its earnings per share for the second quarter of the year was $22.44, up 11% year on year. The company said its net income for the period amounted to $979 million, unchanged compared to the first three months in 2018.

Room nights booked in the second quarter increased 12% to 213 million. Car rental days rose 1.2% to 21 million, while the number of airline tickets sold grew 2.4% to 2 million.

"Booking Holdings executed another strong quarter as we witnessed a solid start to the summer travel season. Globally, our accommodation business booked 213 million room nights in the second quarter, up 12% over the same period last year," Booking CEO Glenn Fogel said.

Booking's shares jumped 5.11% during the aftermarket trade.
