US stocks open higher, Dow up 200 pts

Wall Street opened in the green on Wednesday as United States President Donald Trump once more criticized the Federal Reserve for not lowering interest rates enough and alleged that its head Jerome Powell was the "only problem" for the country's economy. Investors also awaited the release of US housing data for July after the opening bell.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 0.85% or 225 points as Apple Inc. jumped 1.26% while the Nasdaq 100 rose 0.94% on the back of Dollar Tree Inc's gains of 2.15%. The S&P 500 was 0.85% higher.

The euro was flat against the dollar to change hands for 1.1099 at 9:29 am ET while the British pound tumbled 0.24% against the greenback to go for 1.2141 at the same time.
