Washington Nationals win Game 1 of World Series

The Washington Nationals won the opening game of the 2019 World Series against the Houston Astros by a 5-4 score.

Nationals outfielder Juan Soto had 3 runs batted in (RBIs), including a home run in the fourth inning, while pitcher Max Scherzer struck out 7 batters.

Houston's George Springer became the first player in Major League Baseball history to hit a home run in five successive World Series games, dating back to the final four games of Astros' 2017 World Series appearance, when they won the title.
