Asian markets trade mostly lower

Asian markets were mostly lower on Friday amid conflicting reports on trade. On Thursday, China announced it agreed with the United States to roll back existing tariffs, however, no statement from Washington has been issued on the matter yet. Meanwhile, the Wall Street Journal reported two US officials denied the news.

The Nikkei 225 closed 0.26% in the green, while Australia's S&P/ASX 200 finished trading flat.

In South Korea, the Kospi Composite fell 0.31% at 7:30 am CET. Over in China, the Shanghai Composite slipped 0.47% at 7:38 am CET while the Shenzhen Composite lost 0.26%. Hong Kong's Hang Seng dipped 0.89% at 7:40 am CET.

The dollar was virtually flat against the yen at 7:40 am CET, going for ¥109.265.
