Sky to create 2,000 jobs with new UK studio

Media company Sky Limited unveiled its plans on Tuesday to build a new 32-acre, 14-stage development near London. The European pay-TV company recently released its content unit Sky Studios and said the new studio complex will lead to creating 2,000 new jobs. The studios will be used by Sky, as well as Comcast-owned companies including NBC Universal and will be open to other parties as well.

The company said it predicts than £3 billion investment in the new production at the site during the first five years. The studios are expected to start working in 2022, making the production of several movies and TV shows simultaneously possible.

Jeremy Darroch, Sky’s group chief executive said that the company is aware its "customers love our award-winning Sky Originals like ‘Chernobyl,’ and our investment in Sky Studios Elstree will enable us to bring more unique stories to more viewers."
