Asia-Pacific stock markets mixed with trade in focus

Stock markets in the Asia-Pacific region traded mixed on Tuesday as the market focus remained on the global trade issues. United States President Donald Trump claimed trade negotiations with Beijing are going well after the Chinese Assistant Commerce Minister Ren Hongbin said the Asian country hopes to reach a deal with Washington soon. On data, the Chinese National Bureau of Statistics reported the country's consumer price index (CPI) rose by 4.5% in November on an annual basis.

The Nikkei 225 index was flat at 4:09 am CET. The dollar traded unchanged at ¥108.6245 at the same time.

The Shanghai Composite fell 0.35% and the Shenzhen Composite tumbled 0.42% at 4:10 am CET. In Hong Kong, the Hang Seng was on the flatline.

South Korea's Kospi jumped 0.21% at 3:50 am CET and the Australian S&P/ASX decreased 0.16% at 4:10 am CET.
