New York Times ends Apple News partnership

The New York Times announced on Monday it has ended its partnership with Apple News due to disagreements over the strategy of building direct relationships with subscribers.

"Core to a healthy model between The Times and the platforms is a direct path for sending those readers back into our environments, where we control the presentation of our report, the relationships with our readers, and the nature of our business rules. Our relationship with Apple News does not fit within these parameters," the famous magazine's chief operating officer (COO) Meredith Kopit Levien stated, adding that publication's business tactic remains focused on gaining new subscribers.

Apple News announced in December it had partnered with ABC to provide coverage of the key events of the 2020 United States presidential elections.
